World Estate is a game made by Cors Digital, Lda. ("we"), Rua do Pocinho, Ferreira do Zêzere, Portugal. This policy explains what the game keeps on your device, what it sends to our server and why, and how to have it removed. Contact: contact@cors.digital.

What stays on your device

Your saved games, your player profiles (the names and pictures you give them), your settings, your collection and unlocks, and the local cities you play with others on the same device are saved on your device. A local city is played offline and never leaves the device.

What the game sends, and why

The game talks to one server, ours, at api.games.corsdigital.com, and only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). It sends:

  • A device identifier and the kind of device (Android, iPhone, and so on). When the game first goes online (cloud saves, the weekly challenge or an online city) it signs the device in as a guest with this identifier, so the server knows which saves and scores are yours. There are no passwords, and we don't ask for your email or real name.
  • The game's name and version with every request, so the server answers in a way this version understands.
  • Your saved games (cloud saves), unless you turn them off. Cloud saves are on when you install the game: whenever your device is online, each save is also kept on our server: the save file as it is on your device, with a short summary (the game's date) and a checksum. This happens on its own when the game starts, when you return to the home screen and when you save while online. It lets you carry on from another device you link with a code (Settings → Game → Cloud saves), and it means a lost phone doesn't lose your game. A save holds the game itself: the homes you bought and designed, the names you gave your company and profiles, and the made-up tenants of the game. Settings → Game → Cloud saves → Off stops it for the device: nothing is sent or fetched any more, and you can delete the copies already on our server at the same time.
  • The weekly challenge (only if you play it): the name you choose for its board and your result (the game day reached, net worth, cash, number of properties, and whether you finished). Your name and result are shown to the other players on the board.
  • The online cities (only if you join a friends' city or the open online city): the name you choose for that city, its join code, each purchase and sale you make there (which property, the game day, the price), the moves of the city's computer rivals as your device works them out, your standing from time to time (game day, net worth, cash, number of properties), and the day you leave the city if you do. The other players in that city see your name, your purchases and sales and your place in the ranking.

Like any server on the internet, ours sees your device's internet (IP) address when it connects.

We use all of this only to run these features: cloud saves, the device link, the weekly challenge and the online cities. We don't sell it, we don't share it with anyone else, and we don't use it for advertising or profiling.

Purchases

The full game is bought through Google Play on Android (and the App Store on iPhone and iPad). Google or Apple handles your payment details; we never see them. The game only asks the store whether your account owns the full game.

No ads, no tracking

The game shows no ads and contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code. It does not use your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files outside its own folder.

Keeping and deleting your data

  • Deleting a save in the game asks whether to delete it on this device only or everywhere; "everywhere" deletes the cloud copy from our server as well.
  • Turning cloud saves off (Settings → Game → Cloud saves) can delete all the cloud copies at once.
  • Leaving an online city removes you from its ranking. Your past purchases and sales in that city stay in its history, which the other players' games are built on.
  • Weekly challenge results stay on that week's board until you delete your online data.
  • Settings → Game → Delete online data deletes, at once and on our server, the guest account and everything tied to it: the device records (of every device linked to it), your cloud saves, your weekly challenge results and link codes. It needs a connection. It does not delete the saves on your device. In the online cities you joined you leave the city, your properties go to the bank, and your past moves stay in its shared history under the name "Former player", with nothing that identifies you. Afterwards cloud saves are off, and a new guest account is made only if you use an online feature again.
  • Without the game, write to contact@cors.digital with a link code (Settings → Game → Cloud saves → Make a code, sent the same day) or the player name you used online, so we can find your account. We delete it within [30] days. See also Delete your World Estate online data.
  • We keep cloud saves and the guest account while you use the game.

Your rights

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about your device, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it, by writing to contact@cors.digital. We rely on providing the features you use (cloud saves, the challenge, the online cities) as the legal basis for using this data. You may also complain to your data protection authority (in Portugal, the CNPD).

Children

The game is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. The online cities and the weekly challenge show the names players choose to other players; there is no chat.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and a big change is announced in the game.
